People Feel Good Stories

Well, I have been gone a long while but have decided it is time to pick this back up as I need the inspiration once again it brings me.

All – Meet Erich Orrick, founder of the Veteran Charity ” Wish for Our Heroes” which he started in 2009  to help service members move, get new appliances, even assist with their childcare.

A charity group has given more than $10 million in donations. No small feat if you ask me.

What do they do exactly… Glad you asked:

He is Super Feel Good Depot Kind of AWESOME just for that alone but he is also a retired veteran with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart to boot.

Guess what…. he is only part of why I am giving this shout out.

The Indianapolis Colts’ Pat McAfee & Colby Fleener recently got together with people Erich’s community and decided to give his home a makeover.

NICE!!! What a great gift to a well deserving man. You can check it out here…

Erich Orrick, Pat McAfee, & Colby Fleener… You all TOTALLY ROCK!!

And what was Erich’s response to all this goodness:

“I’m completely spellbound. It’s amazing,” he said. “My life has been focused on helping other people. … It was a very humbling experience, being the person that was being helped.

But I don’t want people to miss the story here, that there’s a lot of troops out there that really need help.”

FANTASTIC!!!

People can be cruel. This we all know. Letting a beautiful dog like this get to a point where it is infected and with Mange is pure UGLY in every sense of the word.

Luckily there are groups like http://www.hopeforpaws.org & http://www.billfoundation.org who do what they can to help these poor loving souls.

Check out this story…

If you can help these people, please show your support and do what you can. What they do is AMAZING!!!

YOU PEOPLE TOTALLY FREAKING ROCK!!!!! You have once again restored my faith in humanity!!!

This week was another week of sorrow here in the US with the horrific events that occurred during the Boston Marathon.

That said… from every dark day comes the light of those hero’s who faced the danger to themselves in order to do what they could to help another person.

Like these people – The Tough Ruckers @ The Boston Marathon:

It took about eight hours for all of the soldiers to cross the finish line (HOW AWESOME ARE THESE PEOPLE). They were gathered near the medical tent behind the finish line, waiting for the elite runners to come in. That was the contingency plan in case anything went wrong—meet by the medical tent. IT DID and they joined in the emergency efforts by assisting Medical personal with recovering people from the blast and also providing security services by standing watches over the area.

YOU GUYS TOTALLY FREAKING ROCK!!!!

Then… how about Carlos Arredondo, a man  seen on video, wearing a cowboy hat, helping National Guard troops, police and firefighters wrestle a fence open to allow emergency responders to reach the dozens of wounded people bleeding on the Boston sidewalk. He took a part of his clothing to make a tourniquet to slow the blood loss from the man’s severed artery. That man was put into a wheel chair and taken away by ambulance.

CARLOS ARREDONDO – You have suffered great losses (his son was killed many months ago in Afghanistan) and battled dark demons but in a moment you saved a life and brought great honor to yourself and the memories of your fallen soldier son…

Carlos, YOU TOTALLY FREAKING ROCK DUDE!!

Those medical personal who were there just doing what they do, dealing with minor cuts and dehydration, sprains and tears… who immediately shifted gears and became Triage nurses and doctors….

Along with all the medical personal who were actual participants who dropped everything to do what they could. Help the wounded, help others who were grieving… doing what ever needed to be done with skill and SPEED.

Time is vital in saving lives, as expressed by CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Doctors call the first 60 minutes the “golden hour” in trauma response, he said. Those first 60 minutes and the actions performed usually dictate the outcome for the victim

Within the first 15 minutes, 15 patients were at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Level I trauma center, Gupta said. Seven operating rooms were immediately cleared for the nine patients needing surgery, he said.

While many of you will forever remain nameless.. YOU ALL TOTALLY FREAKING ROCK!!!!

Or how about Joe Andruzzi the former New England Patriots lineman (who is ALREADY A FREAKING HERO) who helps children with brain cancer and their families pay for their treatments through his foundation. The Joe Andruzzi Foundation had a team of runners in the Boston Marathon to raise money to help more patients. He was pictured carrying an injured person but downplayed his role afterwards…

“While I appreciate the interest in hearing our perspective on today’s horrific events, the spotlight should remain firmly on the countless individuals — first responders, medics, EMTs, runners who crossed the finish line and kept on running straight to give blood, and the countless civilians who did whatever they could to save lives,” he said in a statement Monday. “They were the true heroes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this senseless tragedy.”

Andruzzi knows heroes. His brothers were New York firefighters involved in the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center attack.

JOE Andrruzzi, YOU FREAKING ROCK TOO.

Or the yet unknown soldier (Tyler something) who helped to calm a hysterical lady named Victoria by showing her his own shrapnel wound from Afghanistan. Tyler if somehow this finds you… Call the governor’s office, Tyler. The number is 617-725-4000. Victoria wants to say thanks and you TOTALLY FREAKING EARNED IT BECAUSE YOU ROCK!!

When a tragedy like the Boston Marathon bombing strikes, one way to help is to donate much-needed time, blood or money through traditional channels. But within hours of the deadly terror attacks, hundreds of people had turned to Reddit’s unconventional “Random Acts of Pizza” forum, donating more than 1,500 pizzas to hospitals and emergency personnel across the city. Anytime Pizza handled most of the orders, which were delivered through blocked roads and security checkpoints until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday thanks to police escorts. Perry Silveira, Anytime’s owner, was glad to help. “I love to cook,” he said. “If all I can do to help is feed people, that’s what I’ll do.”

WOW, and the stories go on and on…

When I saw on television people running towards the victims despite the second explosion, my prayers were running with them…

ALL OF YOU ROCK. You disregarded your own safety to help someone in need and put yourself at risk…

YOU ARE ALL SPECIAL!!! WORLD CLASS BAD-AZZ IN MY BOOK!!!!

While the bombing itself is reason to be angry and jaded… these people have once again restored my faith…

I see that people will still do the right thing… just BECAUSE it’s the right thing.

How do you teach your children to stand up and be counted???

A good start could be Change.Org.

See For Yourself:

A battle in between a class of fourth graders and a major motion picture studio would seem an unequal battle. It showed to be: the studio buckled. And therein lies a story of how brand-new Internet devices are allowing extremely ordinary individuals to beat a few of the most effective corporate and political interests around– by threatening the titans with the online equivalent of a tarring and feathering.

Take Ted Wells‘s fourth-grade class in Brookline, Mass. The children check out the Dr. Seuss story “The Lorax” and appreciated its emphasis on securing nature, so they were pleased to hear that Universal Studios would be launching a motion picture variation in March. But when the kids went to the movie’s Web website, they were crushed that the website appeared to neglect the ecological styles.

So last month they began a petition on Change.org, the go-to website for Web uprisings. They demanded that Universal Studios “let the Lorax talk for the trees.” The request went viral, rapidly gathering more than 57,000 signatures, and the studio updated the movie website with the environmental message that the children had determined. “It was precisely what the kids requested– the children were with the roof,” Wells [claimed], remembering the celebratory party that the children held during their snack break. “These children are really feeling the glow of making the world a better place. They’re feeling that power.” Change.org has grown from 20 workers a year ago to 100 now, in offices on four continents.
